The Sun reports that Rangnick is set to make RB Leipzig midfielder, Amadou Haidara, his first Red Devils signing in January.
The German is unlikely to spend heavily in the January transfer window but Man United can bring forward the signing of Haidara if they are willing to pay Leipzig £32million next month.
Haidara has a release clause that comes into effect in the summer of 2022 in his current deal with the German club.
But his dream move to Man United could come to fruition six months earlier than planned should the Premier League giants match Leipzig’s demands.
Rangnick signed Haidara from Salzburg two years ago during his time at Leipzig.
The report added that Rangnick has already spoken with the player’s agent, Volker Struth, and a deal is all but agreed.
Meanwhile, Haidara is set to feature for Mali national team at the African Cup of Nations in Cameroon next month.
Speaking ahead of Man United’s Premier League clash with Crystal Palace on Sunday, Rangnick revealed his vision for the club and insisted he wants to turn the Old Trafford club into a team of pressing monsters.
Rangnick said: “I cannot turn the players we have into the pressing monsters I want them to be within two, three or four weeks.
“You have to be aware of what kind of players you have and where they stand.”
